Ricardas Rimkus attended Career Analysts in March for an objective psychometric career assessment. On the basis of the results of a suite of interest, values, aptitude and personality measures, I am delighted to support this application. While to date Ricardas Rimkus has been working in a hands-on trade, he has gained supervisory and project management experience and results on the interest measure suggest that he is now more drawn to the managerial and commercial side of property than to the practical ‘doing'. Ricardas will appreciate status, recognition and respect; he would like to make something of his life and to achieve his full potential. On the attitude scale, Ricardas Rimkus showed as commercially-driven and concerned with the efficient and economic workings of the firm, valuing tangible results and rewards, and a good salary, yet also committed to quality and professionalism. Ricardas will seek power, status and influence and will like to feel recognised and appreciated. These values match a career in business and management, and he has in fact run his own company previously. He is further aesthetically-driven and has demonstrated creative and entrepreneurial flair, and Ricardas will require opportunity to express his own ideas and views. In addition, Ricardas demonstrated a competitive, driven, career-minded and ambitious style and should be prepared to dedicate a substantial amount of time and energy to attaining career success, and any investment in study and development should pay off. Aptitudinally, Ricardas should think quite well on his feet, solving novel problems for himself through logic, and others should view him as quite bright and quick on the uptake. He scored above average for Perceptual Reasoning and at the top of the average range for Verbal and Numerical Reasoning. While marginally more visual, he does not show as significantly more talented in any one channel than another. His score for verbal reasoning is particularly laudable given that English is not his first language, and he does read copiously. He should quite readily develop skills in reading, writing and communication and should prove competent in grasping and applying mathematical and commercial concepts, important in administrative roles. At the same time, Ricardas has a good eye and should learn well through practical methods, observation and experience. All-round talents are evidently well matched with practical management fields. Above average scores for Spatial Visualisation (Shapes) and Mechanical Reasoning suggest that Ricardas should prove particularly quick to develop three-dimensional and spatial concepts and to grasp and apply technical principles. These results are evidently very well matched with Construction careers. On the personality measure, Ricardas presents as charming, welcoming and animated. He is quite a team player, but not so lacking in self-sufficiency or resourcefulness that he is unable to work independently too (indeed, being so quality-oriented there may be occasions where he does not trust others to do things properly!) Nevertheless, he will appreciate some scope for working and dealing with people and will value opportunity to impact operations and the workings of the team. Ricardas is fairly independent-minded, and will value autonomy and a sense of voice and when sure that he is right he will be more prepared to assert himself and take the lead (no doubt employing softer people skills to get people on his side rather than confronting and dictating). Ricardas did not describe himself as any more self-doubting than the next person, but highly ambitious people can sometimes fear failure; this does fit with his saying that he appreciates several opinions and a team off whom to bounce ideas and he will also like to be familiar with the rules and subject matter and to feel secure that he can do a good job. Being tough-minded, Ricardas is likely to bring a realistic, resilient, no-nonsense approach to his work and will prefer to deal with the concrete, tangible and objectively-assessed. However, not without empathy and feeling, he should not be cold and dictatorial or lacking in people skills; he has always proven effective in building good working relationships. While perhaps not the artist or creative ideas person, Ricardas is not devoid of imagination and he should be able to develop and run with the ideas of others, welcoming novelty and change. In summary, Ricardas Rimkus has the motivation, ability and personal qualities to prove a highly committed and competent student on this course and an asset to the field of Construction Management in the future.
